Penguin 3.0, Googles latest algorithmic update was released late Friday night, October 17th. This was the longly anticipated update that Google finally refresh/update. The past two Penguin updates saw some webmasters weep in despair as their dodgy backlink profiles and scrupulous SEO strategies resulted in big penalties and therefore loss in traffic and rankings.
The first two Penguin updates were noticed very quickly by webmasters around the world, with some peoples worst nightmares realised extremely quickly. It was thought by many that the latest Penguin update from Google would be of a similar nature. However, this time, well over 2 weeks from the launch this release is still being rolled out. The update itself is being rolled out throughout the world and not just the UK.
I have seen the impact of Pengunin 3.0 on a website that i used to have some involvement with. However, no action was taken to clean up the backlink profile and disavow any spammy links in the time between the two updates. So i guess this isn’t surprising at all.
So to answer the question “has penguin 3.0 made any impact?” – Yes it has to some extent, but 3 weeks later the the roll out is still happening.
John Mueller from Google stated on the 3rd of November that, “As far as I know, the whole data is still rolling out slowly.”
